Over the past few years, Texas has been busy enacting laws that will have wide-ranging impacts on architecture and development. We have been involved in leading multiple efforts to lower the barriers to real estate development, working with the City of Dallas, Dallas Housing Coalition, The Real Estate Council, and advocating at the Texas Legislature for zoning and parking reforms.
Below is a summary of a few recent changes:
State of Texas Zoning & Housing Supply Reforms from the 89th Legislature (through our membership and advocacy with the Dallas Housing Coalition)
City of Dallas Parking Reform (through service on the Zoning Ordinance Advisory Council)
Building Code (IBC) - to - Residential Code (IRC): Two - To - Eight Unit Per Building Amendment (through service on the IRC Working Group)
City of Dallas Zoning Reform (ongoing)
